Life links attend carers event

Life Links were invited to host an information stand at The Involvement Centre (Bradgate Mental Health Unit, Glenfield Hospital, Leicester) on Friday 30 November.

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) hosted the event to celebrate carers and help recognise their role in caring for someone living with mental ill health and/or learning disabilities. Many of the organisations and groups who provide support for carers attended the event and held an information stand.

It was also a great opportunity to network with other support services, many of which are relevant for our service here at Life Links, helping us to expand our signposting, advice and navigation service.

Shannon and Seema from our team also had the pleasure of meeting The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Ross Grant and the chair of Leicestershire County Council, Councillor Ozzy O’Shea.

Shannon said:

“We were delighted to provide information about  mental health support for both carers and those who are cared for. The whole day was filled with inspiring speeches, networking, information about the support available and very talented entertainment.

“The De Montfort University gospel choir were remarkable and created a wonderful atmosphere. Leicester carers group presented a play at the event which really emphasised the dedication carers commit to their role.

All in all, we had a brilliant day. Thank you to Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust for inviting us.”

Thanks for the invite! See you again in the future!
