Life Links Celebrate World Diabetes Day

On Saturday 17 November, we were invited to Health Awareness and World Diabetes Day, held at St. Chad’s Community Centre. This event was about raising awareness of Diabetes: what it is, how it can impact on peoples’ lives, the treatment available and knowing where to get support.

There were talks by Health Care professionals which were very informative of how Diabetes can affect individuals, but also advice on how to keep happy and healthy. There was a lot of emphasis on the importance of managing your own health throughout your life, and taking time to look after yourself.

Lots of charities and organisations had their own stall promoting their services. Our stall included a big Sparky with the question ‘How do you keep yourself well?’. It was great to chat to people about this, encouraging them to think about what they do to stay healthy, both physically and mentally.

We really enjoyed being part of this, and letting people know that we can help with navigating to the right services for their needs, and provide support with managing their mental health.

Overall, the day was a great success and thank you to everyone involved!
