During mental health awareness week, we delivered a kindness and self-compassionate workshop over Zoom, exclusively for our Life Links clients. We discussed what kindness means to us, and talked through different acts of kindness. Research has shown that acts of kindness correlate to enhanced life satisfaction and emotional wellbeing – so we wanted to encourage kind acts, especially during this time! We also talked a lot about being kind to ourselves, also known as, self-compassion. We discussed the importance of taking time out to practice self-compassion and we taught attendees different ways of doing so, such as; compassionate imagery, compassionate mindfulness, compassionate thought diaries and compassionate letter writing.
It was a great way to interact with people during this lockdown period and share our thoughts about kindness and self-compassion as a group. I very much enjoyed delivering this workshop, and I hope that it has inspired attendees to practice acts of kindness and self-compassion!
As feedback, one of our attendees stated: “The self compassion workshop was really good and was the missing part of the wellness jigsaw for me”.
