Life Links Support the Jo Cox Foundation

Team leader Farhnaz with Neil O’Brien MP

OOn Friday 22nd June 2018 , Life Links attended a session hosted by  Neil O’Brien, Member of Parliament for Oadby and Wigston to discuss how local organisations in Leicester can work together to combat loneliness within the local community.

Loneliness is one of the leading causes of mental ill health in the UK and is one of the key issues that is supported through the Jo Cox Foundation, whereby they help to drive the continuation of the Loneliness Commission and its work, which was first established by Jo Cox to help address the UK’s loneliness crisis.

Here at Life Links we are incredibly proud to support the work of the Jo Cox Foundation, with Farhnaz Abubakar, Team Leader at Life Links expressing her excitement following  the meeting:

“It was brilliant to see so many different organisations come together to plan and identify ways in which we can work in partnership to combat loneliness in Leicester.

Thank you to Neil O’Brien, MP for Oadby and Wingston, and all of the other organisations for giving us the opportunity to get together and raise awareness of this important issue.”

Neil O’Brien also spoke positively of the day saying

“Thank you all for your attendance and contributions at today’s loneliness session in Oadby & Wigston. I found it incredibly useful and also uplifting to hear about some of the excellent work that is already underway, as well as where there may be scope for collaboration going forward.”
