Life Links partners with Project Polska

On Tuesday 25 April, Leicester Life Links attended a community fun day at the Brite Centre in Braunstone. The event was hosted by the Polska community group, who work primarily with people from the Polish community living in Leicester.

The event was extremely interactive – everyone was encouraged to take part in the various different activities taking place, which ranged from hula hooping to treasure hunting! The day also gave us the chance to speak with people about our service and to let them know who to contact should they need any support.

A few weeks later, Life Links also delivered a mindfulness workshop to a group of women in the Polish community. We discussed the impact of stress and practised mindfulness techniques such as sensory grounding and breathing exercises.

Life Links volunteer, Elzbieta, co-delivered the workshop and said:

“Together we created a mindful atmosphere and I really enjoyed this workshop. Not only did it help me develop my mindfulness skills and increase my knowledge, but being a facilitator also enabled me to develop organisational and communication skills which have increased my confidence.”

Thanks to the Polska community group for us inviting us, we had a great day and hope to visit again soon!
